10 Year $1,000 Savings Guarantee

Our business reputation is built on providing a quality product at a price that demonstrates value for money to our customers. To further prove we are 100% committed to this cause, we have introduced a 10-year savings guarantee on our solar systems.

What does this guarantee apply to?

1. Installed by Unplugged Energy from 1 July 2024 onwards
2. Have an inverter capacity of 5kW or above
3. Are connected to WiFi and our monitoring platform from the date of installation
4. Have an inverter that provides a full 10-year warranty

How does it work and how can I make a claim?

If, within any 12-month period starting from the installation date, your system has not generated enough energy to reduce your electricity bill by $1,000 or more (on the assumption you consumed all the energy produced), we will compensate you the difference, up to $1,000 for that period.

How we calculate it:

We take the generation data from your inverter and multiply the total kWh produced over the 12-month period by the prevailing Synergy Home Plan (A1) standard electricity tariff rate at the start of that period. As of 1 July 2024, this rate is 31.5823 cents per kWh. If the tariff changes, we use the updated rate for subsequent 12-month periods.

Example:

If after the first 12 months your solar system has produced 1,200 kWh we will pay you $621.01.

To save $1,000 a year, your solar system would need to produce approximately 3,167 kWh, which is about 8.67 kWh per day on average.

Important: If you consume the solar energy within your home, you save the full tariff rate per unit (currently 31.5823 cents). If you export it, you may receive as little as 2 cents per unit or even 0 cents. We calculate savings based on consuming the produced energy within your home, as actual usage behaviour is outside our control.

To save $1,000 a year, your solar system would need to produce 3,167 units a year, which is 8.67 units a day on average. If your solar system produces 3,167 units a year and you use it, saving you 31.5823 cents per unit, multiplied by 3,167 units, that equals $1,000.21 saving per year. That’s it!

If you think you may be eligible to make a claim under this guarantee, please send copies of your electricity invoices for the period in question as well as the generation statistics from your inverter to admin@unpluggedenergy.com.au (note that your inverter may need to be setup on WIFI to access the required statistics) and we will assess your claim.

How do I make a claim?
If you think you may be eligible to make a claim under this guarantee, please send the following to admin@unpluggedenergy.com.au:

• Copies of your electricity invoices for the 12-month period in question
• The generation statistics from your inverter (note: your inverter must be connected to WiFi for these statistics to be available)

We will assess your claim and respond within 21 business days.

Exclusions
The guarantee does not apply to:

• Solar systems with an inverter capacity smaller than 5kW.
• Solar systems where we have provided a performance estimate report showing an estimated yearly production of less than 7,500 kWh annually.
• Solar systems that are export limited.
• Solar systems that have had any repairs, alterations, reinstallation, repositioning, or modifications by anyone other than a service technician approved by us in writing, or systems that have not been maintained in accordance with the recommended maintenance schedule.
• Solar systems with faults, errors, or conditions affecting performance where we have not been made aware within 10 business days of the owner becoming aware of the fault or have not been given adequate access to rectify the performance. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to notify Unplugged Energy of any faults. We advise you to regularly check your system to make sure it is working properly.
• Solar systems that are not connected to WiFi, where Unplugged Energy does not have online monitoring access, or where the full performance history for the claim period cannot be obtained. If WiFi connectivity is lost for any period, that period may be excluded from the savings calculation.
• Solar systems where there is shading affecting performance.
• Solar systems that have been damaged due to negligent, accidental, or deliberate misuse, abuse, or neglect.
• Periods where the system is non-operational due to a manufacturer warranty claim in progress (e.g. inverter replacement). These periods will be excluded from the savings calculation on a pro-rata basis and will not count against your guarantee.
• Anything beyond Unplugged Energy’s control which has had an adverse effect on the performance of the system.

Limits

• The maximum amount payable under this guarantee for any single 12-month period is $1,000.
• The total cumulative amount payable under this guarantee across the full 10-year term shall not exceed the out-of-pocket price you paid for the system (inclusive of GST).
• This guarantee applies whilst the prevailing Synergy Home Plan (A1) standard electricity tariff is 30 cents per kWh or above. If the standard tariff falls below 30 cents per kWh, the guarantee will be suspended for any 12-month period that commences while the tariff remains below that threshold.
